Learn Japanese from zero, one small piece at a time.

Yukimoji teaches kana, kanji, vocabulary, and grammar together, in an order that makes sense: the parts of a kanji before the kanji, the kanji in a word before the word. A smart review schedule brings everything back right before you forget.

The library and guides are free to browse, no account needed.

How it teaches

Parts first, then the whole.

Every kanji is built from smaller parts. Yukimoji teaches the parts, then the kanji, then the words that use it. Words come in frequency order, so the next thing you learn is always the most useful thing left. If a word needs a kanji you have not seen yet, that kanji joins the same lesson, right before the word.

What's inside

Made to make it stick.

Kanji Mnemonics

Every kanji is broken into its parts, then tied together with a short story so the meaning actually sticks. Write your own if a different image works better for you.

Five sentences for every word

Each sentence adds exactly one new thing, so you always read at your level. Around 50,000 sentences in total, every one with audio in two voices, female and male.

Reviews timed to your memory

Spaced repetition brings each card back at the moment you are about to forget it. You spend your time on what needs work, not on what you already know. Built on the FSRS scheduler.

Two ways through

Kanji first: learn all the kanji, then start vocabulary. Or vocab first: start with words right away, and any missing kanji is taught just in time, inside the same lesson. Skip what you already know, item by item or by whole JLPT level.
