The vast majority of kanji are built from smaller parts. Yukimoji teaches the parts, then the kanji, then the words that use it. Words come in frequency order, so the next thing you learn is always the most useful thing left. If a word needs a kanji you have not seen yet, that kanji joins the same lesson, right before the word.

Every kanji is broken into its parts, then tied together with a short story so the meaning actually sticks. Write your own if a different image works better for you.
Five sentences for every word
Each sentence adds exactly one new thing, so you always read at your level. Around 50,000 sentences in total, every one with audio in two voices, female and male.

Before you dive in.
Do I need to know any Japanese to start?
No — zero really means zero. You start with hiragana and katakana lessons and drills, then move into kanji, vocabulary, and grammar, always learning the parts of a thing before the thing itself.
Is Yukimoji free?
Your first 100 lessons are free, with no time limit and no card required. After that, a single subscription — monthly, yearly, or lifetime — unlocks everything, on web, iOS, and Android. The library and guides are free for everyone, no account needed.
I already know some Japanese. Can I skip ahead?
Yes. Mark individual items as known, or skip entire JLPT levels at once. Skipped items count as learned, so lessons never waste your time re-teaching them — and everything stays browsable in the library.
How much time does it take per day?
You set the pace: from 5 to 50 new items a day. Reviews adjust on their own — the scheduler brings a card back only when you're about to forget it, so the daily pile stays in proportion to the pace you chose.
Does it teach grammar too?
Yes. 594 grammar points are woven into the same lessons as vocabulary, each introduced with its own explanation and practiced through example sentences with audio. The guides cover the fundamentals, from kana to verb types.
Will it help with the JLPT?
Kanji and vocabulary are tagged by JLPT level, with content covering every level through N1. Yukimoji isn't an official test-prep course, but it builds the kanji, vocabulary, and grammar foundation the JLPT draws from.
